ARM Want to Undermine Netbook Market

|

ARM, a British chip designer, wanted to undermine the Netbook market is still dominated by Intel. They announced a 2GHz processor that can be used for the Netbook.

Processor called Cortex A9 MPCore it is an attempt to produce ARM netbooks and other large devices such as servers. So far ARM is more glorious in the area of small devices such as mobile phones.

Cortex A9, as quoted from PCPro.co.uk, Thursday (17/9/2009), claimed to be able to beat Atom from various sides. For example, this processor is more powerful than Intel's Atom but with the same power consumption low.

There's only one problem if the ARM processor to successfully undermined the Netbook market. Cortex A9 is currently not supported Windows operating systems like Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7.

Even if eventually manifest in a Netbook, the ARM Cortex A9 is expected to deliver Linux-based products. Or, another alternative is to use operating system for mobile phones such as Google Android, Windows CE or even Windows Mobile.
